Funny you should mention moving atound the old ground .i to started off in the north bank,then the south,west lower for a good while. Noth bank bar( anyone remember Richie ? Used to wear a suit with a fawn coloured mack,used to get trollied at night games mid fifties)
The chicken run,for a couple of seasons, then west upper until the end.

From 72-77 I was in the South Bank, from 78-85 I stood in the North Bank. From 85-16 I sat in the West Lower. I scoured the footage but couldn't see myself, shame.

I was too young to have been there.
Nurse, I wrote my dissertation on that very subject. Although that was pushing 20 years ago so is in itself dated now.

It's weird that shot of a packed west lower with the rest of the ground empty. I don't remember it being a film set, but I doubt they could fill it with extras anyway.

I remember wearing flares several years earlier, although I had a Levi jacket. I recall many strange looks from Geordies still in flares at my narrow leg cord painters trousers and pointy shoes Newcastle away 78. Backward lot back then.

That's a strange shot that shows the west side full up, but there's not a soul in the seats above. Just reminds me of how early we used to get on the terraces to make sure we had a decent pitch.
I remember how often the chicken run used to be banged out at least an hour before kick off.
What a waste of drinking time. Great days though.

You used to get these hamburger/hot dog stalls around the entrance that made the area smell of boiled onions. Looked putrid too.
Good seeing the terrace on the lower west. We lost something when that went.

Proof that fashion is silly. Look back 30-40 odd years at photos of yourselves wearing the styles and designer duds you're so proud of now, and you'll cringe. Your kids will mock. You are the dupes of marketing.
